Gregory E. Smith

Greg is an experienced senior executive and innovator in the financial technology industry. He is a member of the executive committee of Chi-X Global and leads the strategic direction of its technology business,
Chi-Tech.
In 1998, Greg founded Cicada, a leading supplier of market data management and dissemination technologies for exchanges, which was acquired by Chi-X Global in November 2008. Prior to Cicada, he was Senior Vice President for Content at Dow Jones Markets (Telerate) from June 1997 until Dow Jones Markets was sold to Bridge Information Systems. In the position of Senior Vice President for Content, Greg was responsible for all content created, licensed, contributed to, or otherwise distributed by Dow Jones Markets.
Before joining Dow Jones, Greg was President of Indepth Data Inc., which he founded in 1985, until June 1997, when Indepth was sold to Dow Jones & Company. Indepth Data produced and distributed comprehensive coverage of the taxable fixed income markets in the United States and the major markets in Europe. Indepth's real-time content was delivered to customers through a full-featured Java-based Internet interface and via customized market data feeds. Indepth was also the primary source for all corporate bond prices and terms and conditions for Reuters 3000 until the sale to Dow Jones.
Prior to establishing Indepth Data in 1985, Greg was an investment banker at Thomson McKinnon, where he was a Vice President covering the financial services and technology sectors. Greg started his career in 1980, when he joined E. F. Hutton’s investment banking organization, focusing on telecommunications and venture capital investments.
Mr. Smith is a graduate of Brown University where he received honors in Economics. Prior to joining E. F. Hutton in 1980, he was in the doctoral program of the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business.
